Flywheel Video · Michigan video production
Lansing, MI
video production.
Give a Lansing, Michigan, organization’s message a film grounded in the people doing the work. Flywheel Video develops the interview, prepares and films the location and relevant activity, and edits a story with a clear editorial purpose for the audience you want to reach.

These Flywheel Film program and public-service examples show how an organizational explanation can connect practical next steps with individual experience, serving audiences with different starting knowledge.

Local production planning
Choose the room before choosing the recognizable backdrop.
The Michigan Film & Digital Media Office provides state-level filming, production and permitting information. For Lansing, identify the actual building owner and whether any proposed footage uses a state-managed property, municipal space or private office. Describe those locations separately, including equipment placement and public-facing activity, so questions can be directed to the appropriate contact.
Michigan Film & Digital Media Office ↗Access, sound,
and the filming day.
For a Lansing association or organizational interview, confirm when the speaker can arrive and who can hold the room quiet for setup. A recognizable institutional setting may bring access or sound constraints that a neutral office does not. Ask about visitor check-in, equipment entry and what can appear in the background. If the story includes program activity elsewhere, build the supporting footage around the speaker’s explanation and give that second location a contact and its own filming window.
Planning example · illustrative brief
Hypothetical brief: a program leader explains the next step
An organization wants a Lansing director to explain a program update for its members. A possible brief identifies the audience’s main questions, then records concise responses in a reserved meeting room. Approved program activity and existing client graphics can illustrate the explanation. The communications team supplies names and terminology and identifies who reviews factual details. The production plan also distinguishes the main film from any shorter message, ensuring the interview covers the material each version needs without relying on a fully scripted conversation.
From local capture
to final delivery.
We shape the Lansing film around the message, the speaker’s perspective and the program activity that makes it tangible. Share room access, participant timing and intended distribution, alongside approved graphics or talking points. We can develop the questions, film the story and edit the finished versions, with one contact consolidating feedback and common references for any related conversations.

Provisional planning guidance
Budget for the explanation, not a recognizable backdrop alone.
An association film can need controlled room time, visitor entry and another program location. Those tasks should appear in a Lansing estimate alongside interview direction and editing. Identify what the additional activity explains, who hosts it and which audience versions are needed before allowing an institutional setting to drive the scope by itself.

Illustrative scopes based on Flywheel’s current estimating guidance. These are provisional planning ranges, not fixed packages, a booking or a final quote. Actual locations, hours, crew, rights and delivery requirements need Flywheel confirmation.
Assumptions and costs to confirm
Planning assumptions
- Starter USD planning allowances are working benchmarks, not a universal industry rate card or a final quote. Flywheel confirms the scope, crew, schedule and commercial terms.
- Creative planning assumes discovery, a story outline, interview themes and basic production preparation.
- Each production day assumes up to eight hours with a two-person interview or corporate production crew and a standard camera, basic lighting and sound package. Specialist equipment, extra crew and overtime need separate review.
- Routine location coordination and ordinary interview preparation are included in the planning and filming allowances; those calculator rows add no separate charge. Location changes can still increase filming time.
- Editing combines a base allowance for each distinct main film plus an allowance for the total finished minutes. The base alone is not the complete editing price.
- An additional version means reframing or a straightforward shorter cut from the approved main film. New concepts, languages, major restructuring or extensive graphics need separate review.
- Editing assumes two consolidated rounds of client feedback. Final review rounds, media handoff, source files, storage and licensing must be defined in the agreed scope.
- All visitor quantities are working assumptions. Unknown scope, complex requirements or specialist review terms can prevent an automatic numerical estimate.
Exclusions unless agreed in scope
- Travel and accommodation unless expressly included.
- Location fees, permits, talent and usage rights unless expressly included.
- Stock, music, third-party licenses and taxes unless expressly included.
- Specialist equipment, additional languages, animation, visual effects, broadcast and unusual access requirements unless expressly included.
- Additional filming, changed creative direction and new deliverables outside the confirmed scope.

Questions, answered
Plan your Lansing
production.
Resolve the location, capture and delivery questions before the filming day.
How do we route questions about different Lansing properties?
Identify whether the proposed room or exterior is privately managed, municipal or state-managed, then describe the equipment and activity to its responsible contact. Michigan’s statewide film resource can begin planning questions, but it does not establish access to every building included under the city name.
Is the speaker’s arrival time also the room setup time?
Plan them separately. Ask who can hold the room quiet and allow equipment entry before the speaker arrives. Review nearby meetings and background material with the host so a short conversation window is used for recording rather than resolving access, noise or visible-document issues.
What belongs in the first outline for a program leader?
Define the audience’s starting knowledge, the questions they need answered and the next step the organization wants to explain. Include approved terminology and background facts. The outline should help the person speak naturally while making clear which statements will require a client factual review.
How do we avoid generic supporting footage in the edit?
Connect each proposed scene to a point in the speaker’s explanation. Arrange meaningful program activity with its host and label what it shows. If existing images or graphics provide clearer context, assess them before filming so the shot list serves the narrative rather than collecting unrelated exteriors.
