A safety message developed for the screen
New York Bicycling Coalition worked with Flywheel Film on The Dutch Reach, a bicycle-safety public service announcement. The project brought a safety concept into a story and visual treatment intended to make the message engaging. New York State funding supported the work.
From concept and casting through the finished film
Flywheel Film developed the creative approach, visual style and tone with NYBC. The credited scope includes storyboards, shot lists, casting, scouting, directing, video production and cinematography. Post-production responsibilities include assembly and editing, sound mixing and mastering, motion graphics and color grading.
The plan is part of the project record
The original case study publishes a storyboard as well as the finished PSA. A separate, short behind-the-scenes film is also included on this page. Together, those materials offer a useful way to look at the planned production alongside its finished screen treatment.
Planning a demonstration or public-service film
For a new PSA, begin with the action or idea the audience should understand. Discuss the intended viewers and the response you want the message to encourage. A clear brief gives the creative conversation something concrete to build around before casting, locations or filming arrangements are chosen.
Consider the demonstration, its setting and the coverage needed to explain it. Decide where narration, live action, sound or graphics could help. Agree how subject specialists will review the message and how the creative team will carry that approved idea into the film. Include the publication channels, required versions and post-production responsibilities in the scope so that each stage serves the same purpose.
